The UFC makes its maiden voyage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this weekend bringing a fight card that while impacted by late-stage changes still features a main event that promises fireworks.
Khamzat Chimaev will clash with Robert Whittaker in the five-round main event to headline the first ever UFC card in Saudi Arabia on June. 11. Chimaev last fought in September 2022 submitting Kevin Holland with a D'Arce choke in the first round.
He has been out of action since then due to lingering health issues but returns to face the toughest test of his career against former middleweight champion Whittaker. Whittaker has won three straight fights since losing his title to Israel Adesanya in October 2019.
He most recently defeated Marvin Vettori by unanimous decision in September 2022. The co-main event will see Magomed Ankalaev take on Anthony Smith in a light heavyweight bout. Ankalaev is riding a nine-fight winning streak while Smith has won four of his last five. The rest of the card is filled with exciting matchups including a welterweight bout between Neil Magny and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos a bantamweight fight between Umar Nurmagomedov and Raoni Barcelos and a featherweight clash between Giga Chikadze and Magomed Magomedov.
